Dianne Oxbury mentioned on North West tonight that winds continue in to the early hours so maybe the strongest gusts are still to come.

Had a gazebo out in the garden while my dad did some work on the car. Just been out trying to wrestle with the wind to take it down and I lifted off the ground and it all snapped, what fun weather haha.

I'm in Aintree, the wind does seem to have dropped off a bit still gusting now and again and the rain is not that heavy,

I am sure Diane mentioned in the local forecast earlier that once the rain cleared, about midnight, that would be when the winds became more of a feature, I might have it wrong I've had a sleep since then.

Also just watched the national weather on News 24 and at the very end of the forecast the graphics had snow over Liverpool all the way up towards the lakes for Saturday, it only showed for a split second

Won't be long before that squall line crosses over the region, so it will be interesting to see how gusty it gets. After that the winds are set to drop of a little before round two tomorrow.

Fairly calm outside now, just a bit of a breeze, rain has stopped, it didn't get torrential at all. After all the hype about 'storm Rachel' on the forecasts/warnings etc................will try not to get excited about the 18z until it starts happening

Despite soom gloom in the MOD thread things look very good

This morning, for me its not a question about how cold and

Potentially snowy it could get, but how long the cold spell will

Last, at the moment we have at least 5 days to enjoy, all starting

Tonight for the high ground, tomorrow is when the fun begins

With the showers becoming more wintry to low levels as the

Day progresses.

I went straight into the MOD thread when I came on line, oooh a lot of gloom and doom in there every one is sad,

so I am presuming the 0z is not as 'snowy' as the 18z last night? Not had time to look at it yet need a bit more coffee.

A bright and chilly slightly breezy morning here, what time is the next storm kicking off, hope it's better than last night

For nw it looks snowier up here.....

Ie below chart, obviously not going to work out like that but

I think the stink in mod thread is being kicked up by se/sw contingent due to charts like this...

A Lot of toys being thrown around by southern members because the Operationals are not as good etc........

THE GFS 0z run for our region was on the warmer side of average during Monday Tuesday..

Basically it still look okay......

Not as cold and snowy for "down south", we are still looking in excellent shape for sustained cold and snow over the next week or so.

Wouldn't pay much attention to the usual suspects in the MOD thread.

ECM is a peach for us right the way through, what happens at T240 is anyones guess.

GFS is also great.

UKMO is decent.

Looks like a good cold spell coming up next week, and the NW isn't in a bad position at all.
