Light snow here, and a big problem: the streetlight outside my house has chosen today to break down.

That main band out in the Irish sea isn't forecast to reach us, just fizzle in its place for a while. Any precipitation looks to be from around the secondary low, at least looking at precipitation charts.

Yep agree.

Since Feb '96? Really? I grew up in the snow starved south and we have had plenty of decent snow fall between 96 and 2011 - just not since. Now I live in Mancs, still haven't had a decent spell.

I'm mystified why the ppn hasn't really shunted east, but the area of midlands is now knocking on our door! The other front is chasing behind, there is alot of ppn about - where will it all go?!

....yes feb96...weve had the odd 4 or 5 inches on rare occasions but nothing really decent..crappest place in country this for snow easily.

Round here it's so light even the streetlight is no use. You've literally got to go outside and count individual snowflakes.

Nothing much falling - it must be very small flakes

Light snow here and settling - well not melting to be truthful, such tiny flakes that it won't amount to anything, however there was nothing showing on the radar and now there's loads.

Just going to say the same.

Looked on the radar and there was little or nothing showing north of the Mersey, looked outside and it was snowing.
