You guys in manchester had the best of the snow from the Irish sea over the weekend. Only fair we in the west get some now isn't it?

Well I am neither disappoint or happy about the current turn of events...... A south easterly was always a bad direction for this part of our region.

it is good that other get to see some snow thou  :D

If its moving from the west manchester wont get much, looking at bbc forecast snows coming from the west but also moving up from south....so manchester should get snow.... Wonder if warning will be updated by 3pm or after evening news at 630pm....

If you wanna see the snow shadow effect from a south Easterly check out the link.......

West is certainly best for tonight.....

Can't remember who, but someone posted a satellite image a few winters ago of a "snow covered" UK.  There were in the NW 2 exceptions, an area around Manchester, and the area around the Ribble estuary.  Everywhere else, including the Fylde coast was white. Was an interesting insight really.

If you're just outside the warning zone I doubt you'll miss it completely, still probably get some light snow.

I think those from Manchester southwards are in the sweet spot for tonights snow, unfortunately for those North of that we may get 1-2cm if we're lucky as I feel that this will slip a little further south than being currently shown with Cheshire and Merseyside being the prime area for a decent fall. Overall it's been pretty disappointing this cold spell IMBY with little in the way of snow or cold temps really, the lowest I've recorded is -4.6c and I'm in a rural location sheltered by high fells.

No worries you gave us a balance, if it was just backtrack in here we would be convinced of snow 365 days of the year guaranteed!

Not expecting much apart from a few flurries here, a south easterly takes the precipitation to the shredder on it's eastern flank but good luck to those in the west, and especially coastal areas who usually miss out with warmer temps from the Irish sea.  This hopefully won't be an issue tonight.

Looking forward to the Liverpool v Chelsea game, might see some of the white stuff falling during the game?
