At Coventry the high on Friday of 14.5c was the mildest in January since at least 1892:

......Actually, what's the January record for England? All the 17+ records on the Torro site are in Wales or Scotland. Has today done it?

The record high for January in England is 17.6c at Eynsford in Kent in 2003.

(Both Wales and Scotland have recorded 18+)

12c this morning in Berlin - wonder how mild we'll get? I suspect not as a mild as the UK being so far downwind away from the warm ocean but still, very much above the 2c maximum average!

15.0c reached here at my station last evening around 18:00 GMT, the warmest January day on local record here (1991) The previous record was back in 2007 when it reached 14.2c.

Quite phenomenal many of us were just 3 or 4c off 20c yesterday! Must be possible under the rarest of synoptics.

At this time of the year its more to do with the airmass rather than the synoptics. The warmth on Friday despite unimpressive seynoptics was due to a particularly potent warm sector, hence a lot of maximums happening at night. I think the chance of getting 20C in January is next to impossible due to weak solar imput, but in a long draw SSW wind with uppers above 10C and prolonged sunshine it might just be possible in the second half of February.

If it happens then for sure we well into GW!
