Wow that's pretty impressive! Can't wait for that to pass over me! Will need coffee though as probably won't be for a few hours :-p

It is indeed.

Anyone reckon Torro's hint of a LEWP could be right, or just a bit of excited forecasting?

EDIT: I'm going with the latter

Well the wind has picked up a lot but it's no way near the strength we experienced the other day.  I guess the peaks are taking the punch out of it.

Winds remain strong and gusty on the Suffolk/Cambridgeshire boundary. Remaining crispy Autumn leaves are hurling themselves through the unstable atmosphere, propelling themselves like unhinged missiles......

On a serious note it is turbulent out there.... the weather is angry tonight.

You can already see some LEWP structure on radar.

Confirmed hurricane-force wind west of Ireland:

Hope you all stay safe there, I'm sure that not all of you will get very strong winds but it does look nasty for some.

I live near gatwick and some aircraft are diverting, an easyJet flight just diverted off to Amsterdam!

Definitely worse places to be diverted too!

I know, I'm hoping for the former for some excitement, just hope it maintains structure/develops. From a purely meteorological geek perspective of course, hopefully everyone stays safe.

It's turned up a notch in the last 30 minutes here

It was a typical squall line here but no hail which we sometimes get.

Don't quote me, but I think that squall line will develop further as it moves south and east.

More so on the bottom of the line- going by NMM guidance. Some of the lower resolution models didn't really show a line at all..

Really stormy out there now, nothing extra ordinary in terms of big wind gusts as yet but it sounds wild blowing through the trees, you can't beat that sound!

Sorry to quote you...  :D

but it's certainly lost its lack of breadth (whether that translates to any permutation of more/less intensity over more time?), and the radar at 00:30 from swansea north looks nasty.

Also, the hinge on my ill-advised semi-open window just broke in a gust, but I think that's just the poor build quality of my flat...

I can't say, it may diminish or get worst but it was worth me staying up, good luck!
