Clear spells overnight, a continuous force 2-3 south to SW wind prevented the temperature falling any lower than 0.2c,  though still a widespread ground frost here. At observation, mostly cloudy, ground frost melted, though still feeling cold in the fresh SW wind.

brilliant sunrise through the Cirrus, orange to yellow, just missed a ground frost earlier with a low of 2.2C now on 4.2C

Last night was dry and clear until well into the early hours but from about 0530 fog developed, clearing again by 0900.

Cloudy this morning with intermittent light rain from 1000 after a dry start.

Grass frost had lifted by about midnight as cloud increased. Clear intervals to cloud last night, rather windy and drizzly by dawn.

Overcast by day and a fresh to strong SW wind, gale force gusts. Spells mostly light rain and drizzle since 0800, heavier around 1930 to 20h. Very mild by this evening.

A grim grey January day - thoroughly miserable with rain from the off and a dark grey leaden sky dawn, it never brightened much at all, with lashings of rain and wind lunchtime and through the afternoon, with a dark sky by half 3 and swift descent into dusk..

 

Days like today you feel like hibernating.
