Do forgive me sneaking into the SE, but thought you guys would like to hear this...

Believe it or not, have had light sleet for the last half hour.

Wasn't even expecting that!

Temp 4c DP 0c.

Was a terrific frost this morning. Temps went below -5, the ducks were sitting down on the lake and everything looked beautiful outside. So it's all pretty insulting that it's now started drizzling! Would like to say it's even sleet but no just plain old rain.

Think it's about time we had a last minute upgrade rather than a last minute downgrade but temps don't look to be wanting to go below 3C tonight in Reading.

If the temperature is above freezing ie 2 degrees, but the dew point is below freezing can it snow??

Thanks

Well the London forecast says snow over the higher ground (Chilterns, Downs) and mostly rain at low levels.

Rain and sleet entering London now, looks to be snow from Northampton northwards at the moment.

Temperature continuing to rise here. From -1C at 5pm to 1.1C now. Dewpoint at 0C.

Keeping my eye on a few showers South of Essex at the moment making their way NNE; they seem to to be intensifying.

Slightly disconcerting when the radar changes all the snow over Northamptonshire to sleet in one frame

The only hope I can see is that big lump of ppn over Bournemouth which is heading for London area in about 3 hours t

He temp might drop enough for snow by then

Indeed, SE is on the firing line whether that will be rain/sleet/snow it's worth a good watch. :good:

PPN on NW radar approaching my location from the SE.  Wunderground nearest weather station shows +1.3C with a DP of -1C.

Quick question, why when I look at the NW radar, does the Sleet/Snow/Rain mix change between UK and European radar views?

Clicking on Europe, to see the wider extent of the rain band changes pretty much everything over the UK to snow, even know we know that's not right??

2.8c here, 1.2c dew point
