Often France or at least NE, Central and Central Eastern parts benefit from cold continent.

SE England and East Anglia impacted by proximity to the water would be my assumption.

For snow we'd be better off being connected to the continent I'd have thought.

I am pretty sure they got snow in Northern France last night, why is the South-east always the sandwich filling and never the bread?

We had some sleet about 1am last night but other then that nothing,

East South Easterlies rarely deliver for the Coastal Parts of SE Essex due to the SST's in the Tepid Bath (Thames Estuary) and thats what occured here which is why there are hardly any reports from places within 5-6 miles of the Estuary/Coast. Just goes to show how much of a knife-edge situation it is for our part of the world, with Bas Vegas (6 miles to our West) and Chelmsford (10 miles to our North) reporting snow.

The 22 month wait continues for some parts of Essex!

Drizzly cold and yuk here, we really need those strong North Easterlies for this part of the world it seems.

Lol and then Southend reports snow as I was posting! Mad Mad Weather!

Grim eh Paul, but expected.

Think I saw a flake about 10mins ago but other than that sleety drizzly stuff

Although I did see snowfalling last night im not surprised I didn't wake up to a covering. For the past few days I was always more concerned about how weak and patchy the precipitation would be and that proved correct for my location.

And I'm still waiting. Bone dry here with a temp of 2.3c and DP of 0. Now snowless since 11th March 2013.

We have something falling out of the sky here, it's either wet snow or sleet I can't decide lol

Overflying seagulls? Lol

If you hover over the stations on the temps page on xcweather, you can see the dew points are generally 0C or below across East Anglia and E Kent, due to that drier colder continental feed across the S North Sea, go further southwest across Sussex and DPs are above 0c, 2C in places:

http://www.xcweather.co.uk/

Actually, you can see it better on this map below, see the cold and dry air over the near continent that's being tapped into:

Braintree is on the edge of the PPN band in the heavier bit.

Some more heading up from the south-

A cold raw day everywhere today with the colder dewpoints spreading west we all could see a few flurries of snow...

Cloud breaking eventually.
