The councils grit when its +7c to

a) make sure your car looks **it just after you have cleaned it

b) when your screen wash is frozen it ensures you get poor visibility from the mud

c) aim to drive in front of you and shower loads of small stones at your windscreen

ps wind picking up

Yup can be a nuisance but it does says lives and that's all that matters. What other alternatives is there? Nice charts snowman by the ever reliable GFS have the high res models shown a similar picture? you might need to get a restraining order if it came to fruition  to me especially, still hopeful for this saga.

Been dry all evening here. Precipitation around (all in that annoying green (wintry mix) colour on the radar. Calling it a night and will be happy with a dusting tomorrow. My girlfriend ordered me to do a snowdance earlier so hopefully that did the trick :p

Currently 3C here.

@GrittingKent: Milder air expected to push in through the night with some drizzle which will allow road surface temperatures to rise above freezing

But also they state this....

Cloud will increase from the west after dark although it will still be chilly this evening, there could be some patchy light rain or sleet around too for a time. From around 2000- 2100, another area of precipitation will spread east across the region. This may fall as sleet at first, and possibly briefly as snow on the highest routes, but will soon turn to rain everywhere as milder air pushes in from the south-west. The rain will become increasingly light and patchy after midnight but a lot of cloud will remain, which should help to keep RSTs up.Confidence remains low on precipitation type and period below zero. RSTs should recover in most places once it turns to rain.Tomorrow will stay rather cloudy with patchy light rain or drizzle at times. The patchy rain will clear during tomorrow evening to leave a mainly dry and cold night with some clear spells.

^^^ That would explain alot of the gritter reports

This frustrates me with people that live up north, they get snow regularly, even if it just falls without settling, yet they cant understand our crying over no snow at all and seem to think they are hard done by!!!

They dont know how good they have it

My partner once suggested living near Poole where her son lives, I said are you kidding me.

Still dry here

Temps now at 2.5 and absolutely nothing. Nite all. Lets hope that the snow arrives during the night when we are all asleep and we wake up to a winter wonderland. Yeah right, just seen a pig fly by the window!!

But, we had a bit of snowfall, and that's something I haven't seen in a long old while.

Well I am further north but my ASL is 7m therefore the futher south you are the less the chance, I can gather. Since it is not forecasted to go below freezing ice is not a concern, so what is. Might be taking precautions but its been a good time since I've since the gritter go past, last time 2013.

Looks like the band to my SW is intensifying and reports from Leicester of heavy snow. Could get interesting around here over the next couple of hours.

Hi, teits

I believe Peterborough is the only place in East anglia issued with a meto warning for snow,

I think anywhere else will either be dry or a little sleet.
