Slightly disconcerting when the radar changes all the snow over Northamptonshire to sleet in one frame

Very frustrating in Northamptonshire as normal we always get it ramped up that we will get hit and get nothing.

Temp here creeping up slowly and now at 1.9c with a dp.of -0.5c, the questions are a) will the temps stay as they are and b) will any ppn make it this far east? Answers on a postcard....

Answers on the pack of a postcard? I can fit it on a postage stamp. No. :p

Temperatures still rising here too, now 1.3C. I wouldn't be surprised to see bits and pieces of precipitation coming and going over Suffolk, but nothing very heavy. The problem is that we ideally need it to be as heavy as possible to aid any evaporative cooling. It's just a case of lamp post watching (except I live in the middle of nowhere so don't have a lamp post to check)

Well have lamp post watched the last 30 mins out the window it's been drizzle all be it a tad sleety. I then noticed someone in the opposite window looking across at me as if I was mad. He may be a lamp post watcher himself but I have retreated for now to watch the footie.

Close but no cigar I feel for this area of SE. Temp has steadily risen in last hour and is now 2 degrees. We were looking and hoping for Zero by 7(as per the Murrmeister) so think maybe apart from a bit of sleet yet another disappointment although tbf was always looking this way from an IMBY perspective . Never mind, think we will have more opportunities in next 6 weeks so onwards and upwards :)  :) .

One question to Steve Murr.Having looked at the BBC graphics it looked like the LOW with this front didn't push far enough SSE to be over IOW and instead stayed a lot further North. That was my take on it but probably got it wrong. As am still learning would be very interested in your views.

Cheers and good luck to those North and West of London, better chances for you hopefully.

The big boss received a memo from MetO which prompted the go ahead for the gritting in Croydon. We shall see.

1.2oC and radar shows something passing over, but nothing falling here.  No frost as of yet either.

Gritting over the past few days has been down to the frost. Let's see how this ppn gravy train materialises
