Supported by GFS 12Z - snowfall accounting to several cm of snow widely for parts in SE/EA

attachicon.gifimage.jpgattachicon.gifimage.jpgattachicon.gifimage.jpg

Eastern England & far SE, holding onto the cold 850s east is best going by this individual run precipitation is about and not reserved to CE - it is likely to fall as snow in a number of places, caveats apply. :) let's hope we get a wee upgrade so those further west can join in the fun, it is marginal but nocturnal cooling is helpful.

This is going to turn out to be a nowcast no doubt. Still take that precip chart with a pinch of salt. If the same with the 18z and 0z charts then every chance.

The 850`s are only  just holding on:

gfs-1-36.png?12

To me the main part of the low doesn`t show up until 6hrs later so haven`t a clue really what that means but the precip has broken up by then.

Again lets see the later runs.

I don't care what the forecast says, it certainly feels a lot chillier than 4C!

BBC forecast has me for snow from 5am until 3pm on Wednesday, with heavy snow at 7am.  That will make the walk to nursery with my son interesting.

Not that I believe it

that's only up to midday, its moving se. looks like the precip will reach us now but very border line whether it will be snow. currently looking good for Essex. if the pattern move west we lose the precip/any move east loses the uppers.

The low dives away SW pages, it`s just how east it gets before it catches the bus.

Nope it sinks southwards, back edge snow dependant on other variables.

Sounds like the Met Office are siding with the Euro4 atm

London/SE is the most highly populated part of the, UK so if there was likelihood of more than a dusting I would have thought the Met would release warnings, we are inside the reliable timeframe

Until the Met come on board with warnings it is difficult to get too excited

Although this 'cold' spell has been pretty tame and a let-down for anything snowy, the last few days have been beautiful here. Sunshine and light winds, so much better than gales and rain. 6 weeks left of winter so plenty of chances yet to see something wintry.

Tonight

Partly cloudy, cloud amounts will decrease throughout the night. The exception being coastal parts of Kent and Sussex where showers may start to drift in off the English channel.

Wednesday

post-17424-0-44361100-1421692310_thumb.p

Variable winds, easterly favoured.

Rain/sleet and snow possible towards the south and west of the region. This still looks complicated at this moment. The far east may remain dry and bright throughout the day.

Temperatures - 2-4C

Wednesday night

post-17424-0-16195800-1421692595_thumb.p

variable winds

Any rain/sleet/snow will die out to leave a cloudy and cold night. Frost possible under any clearer skies.

Temperatures - between 1C and -2C

Thursday

post-17424-0-22141900-1421692596_thumb.p

Light and variable winds

A dull and cloudy day, with a little drizzle or snow grains in places. Perhaps turning brighter later if the wind swings westerly and picks up a little.

Temperatures - 2-4C

Major difference still in how far the precipitation gets into the region, and whether it will be snow or not. Stay tuned.
