That little chart, does show very strong gusts on the south coast, erm i think

Hi there, please try to have some more self confidence you have the gist :good:

I can't see the image clearly, what are the predicted times?

During the small hours winds peaking around midnight-03:00 which should minimise impact. Ian has posted a interesting grapic snow acc chart past 24 hour one as he cannot post the latest, due to MO regulations. West of London along the M4 looks rather good subject to change, I think it is likely the SE will experience some snowfall on Tuesday - although unlikely whether it will settle, bar the downs. Stay tuned...

Hi Daniel, im just getting carried away with it all, im storm starved :D

And i hope to get 'carried away' at midnight wednesday !

it happens to the best of us. :D

I get blown away with the wind when *snow* is mentioned.

*24 hours old* shows accumulations so does not discount snowfall.

^^ Ian F as insightful as ever

I dont like the latest ecm storm charts, showing much weaker winds for my area than gfs and some others have been, i really hope from an imby perspective that we dont start to see a trend north / weaker for this storm.

There is a 24 hour gap the question is what happens within them 24 hours, but yes the ECM is not playing ball if you want severe winds. To be honest ECM has never been gunning for something exceptional.

I would personally perfer the storm to be less severe down here, really do not like them.

Snow for the north of the UK maybe with western areas at high levels, but did not see any mention of snow for our region next week on any day just a shift to cold after the end of the week, think they said "frosty".

Wet and windy seems to be the recipe for the week overall though.

So then, I guess I should try and get some gauge on Tuesday night in this post. Here goes

Tomorrow

post-17424-0-51424900-1421006292_thumb.p

Fresh westerly winds

Looks like a proper write off type of day, outbreaks of rain (sometimes heavy). Could be local flooding in places.

Temperatures

nmmuk-0-26-0.png?11-18

10-12C

Monday night - Wet and mild again

Tuesday

post-17424-0-97200600-1421006294_thumb.p

Moderate to fresh westerly winds.

Looks like more rain with another pulse running along southern counties, this should clear later in the day to leave sunny spells and showers.

Temperatures

nmmuk-0-50-0.png?11-18

7-10C

Overnight

post-17424-0-93192300-1421006297_thumb.p

Well we have clear disturbances in the flow which will bring showers.

850s

nmmuk-16-59-0.png?11-18

-5C or -6C

Surface temperatures

nmmuk-0-59-0.png?11-18

Hovering just above freezing

Dew points

nmmuk-18-60-0.png?11-18

Near freezing too, maybe just above.

So then, I think any showers could be a mix of rain/sleet or snow, the heavier ones may give accumulations over higher ground. Not expecting much at low levels, maybe a dusting if you are lucky.

Wednesday

post-17424-0-34426400-1421006300_thumb.p

Fresh west to south west wind

A mainly dry day with some sunny spells, cloud will increase later.

Temperatures  - 6-8C

The storm fun will be later when the next FAX chart comes out :)

Yes it does look good Captain for many to see their first white stuff bordering on 2 years.

It may not accumulate but to see some snow would be utterly wonderful. :hi:

Thanks for posting that Jules :) , based on that chart I will be going to sleep and staying asleep !

Bah humbug.

why mickey? that chart shows average sustained wind speeds of about 45mph.

gusts would be averaging 60- 70mph with higher gusts likely. good luck getting to sleep in the first place!
