Strong winds for the bulk of the country, blizzard conditions up North I would imagine for a time up in the hills.

Need to keep an eye on this now as we are getting closer, still slightly undecided on whether the 14th or 15th at this stage..

The rain looks to be clearing the north and west of the region now according to radar, probably be around 3pm when it clears Kent. Horrible day to be honest.

Rain far more expansive across southern and central parts than forecast JUST last night (goes to show some of the detail at short range is still fairly poor from the MetO) as per last Sunday when they forecast just a light frost at first with milder temps by the afternoon which was clearly not the case - so a lot of brushing up to do from them!

As for today - just another rubbish day so far in this winter and no doubt many more to come. :(

Indeed.  Not only that, at lunchtime yesterday, their forecast was that East Anglia would stay dry during daylight hours, when we'd already had drizzle.

Afternoon

After a long drawn out and dark morning that was wet and breezy, the clouds finally parted and the sun came to shine, nice calmer day out there but with that chilly feeling to it.

Sooooooooo, was thinking of buying meself a snow globe.

Just in case like.

It's on it's way Boggy, you will need a snow shovel instead of a globe :smiliz19: Oh :smiliz23: Forgot to say allegedly, just in case it doesn't turn up and we get drizzle instead...allegedly! :smiliz39:http://www.weatherweb.net/wxwebtv2.php

Next Wednesday and Thursday looking interesting now for the SE, still a long way off but something has been showing for quite a few runs now, could be quite windy.

That's the one i'm referring to boggy! :smiliz19:

Hi C.S

I like to "explore" hope I do not come across as intrusive... Since I'm not a "local"

That's very kind...we're all hoping

Seems you'll do quite well fingers crossed :-)

So anyone got an update for the next weeks storm?

Too far out to tell anything at the moment there will be lots of changes between now and then, maybe have a better idea on Sunday

The output from the models show that we will see one of two scenarios, the first the low deepens but should not arrive until late on the 14th, or even the 15th so potentially sparing the big day. The other is a faster moving system, but at the same time this will be shallower and hence winds will not be a real hazard, rain on the other hand could be.

Still uncertainty on how the low will track/develop.

As some really good posters have already said it's too early to say at the moment. Things can change even 24 hours before a weather event.

Tomorrow

post-17424-0-21991200-1420749946_thumb.p

Strong westerly winds

There may be some morning brightness, but cloud will increase to bring light outbreaks of rain during the afternoon.

Temperatures

nmmuk-0-25-0.png?08-18

9-12C

Overnight - staying milder with double figure temperatures for all, winds gusting to around 50-55 mph tonight and tomorrow night, especially around the coasts.

Saturday

post-17424-0-69137000-1420749948_thumb.p

Strong north westerly winds

Starting off mild with an area of squally rain pushing south east, this should clear late morning to leave sunny spells.

Temperatures

nmmuk-0-47-0.png?08-18

Mild at around 10-12C until midday

These fall during the afternoon when cooler air pushing in behind the cold front.

Sunday

post-17424-0-19642000-1420749951_thumb.p

Fresh to strong west/north westerly winds

Looks dry with good sunny spells, 850s are around -5/6 Saturday night into Sunday, but shower activity looks near enough non-existent in this part of the world.

Temperatures - As the 850s rise throughout the day, so will the temperatures to a near average 6-9C

More than ten millimetres of rain this morning in 3 hours then opened up to a nice afternoon. A bit on the windy side but sunny and almost warm enough to not wear a coat I couldn't complain.

Does anyone know if there's any possibility of wintry weather thursday next week on into the weekend? I think the GFS parallel suggested it yesterday but when the MOD thread is people either saying 'Winter is Over' or 'exciting cold period upcoming' right next to each other it gets confusing!
