Clear spells until after midnight. Thick freezing fog developed through the early hours. At observation, dense freezing fog, hazy blue sky just visible overhead.

Yesterday.

 

Ground frost lifted after midnight as cloud increased. Light rain set in around 05:00 GMT. Overcast, intermittent light rain so far this morning. The rain turned moderate and continuous through the morning and an to the early afternoon, turning to sleet, though ratio only 95/5 in favour of rain. A clearance arrived around mid afternoon and the evening saw good clear spells with ground frost by early evening. Feeling cold throughout.

A clear, dry and sunny day but around 1550 thick fog developed very quickly  and there was an equally rapid fall in temperature from 2.6c at 1545 to -1.4c at 1640. The temperature later recovered slowly even though the fog persisted.
