Cloudy from the start with ocnl rain from about 0900, a low of 3.2C, perhaps some hill snow for our Peak District friends as the low passes to the east?

I notice TM is reporting some wet snow not lying when he did his routine observation.

Just got back from a week in France, staying with friends near Dijon.  Generally overcast and cold there, even by local standards, with temperatures mainly hovering around freezing and a couple of ice days. There was patchy snow on the ground for our entire stay. The lowest there was around -10 on the 28th (we also had our lowest of the temperature of 2014 here in Reading while I was away, at -4.2).

Meanwhile, back here...dull and damp most of the day, with rain finally clearing mid-afternoon.  Maximum 6.7, minimum 4.0.  Wind light NE.

Sleet and wet snow early this morning giving way to a spell of heavy wet snow late morning which gave a thin cover for a couple of hours above 300m. The temperature fell to 0.3c during the snow but recovered to a little over 1c once it had stopped.

As the precipitation eased it reverted to sleet and intermittent light sleet continued into the early afternoon before a clearance arrived from the west around 1500.
