Another frost the 5th in 6 nights with a low of -3.2C the lowest in my back garden since 12 March 2013, no cloud initially and still 1cm of snow covering more than 1/2 the ground. Need to look when that last occurred. Now about 5/8 thickening Ci with the odd patch of Sc beneath it.

Interesting John haven't had air frost since 29th and that was only because the air temp was below zero after the previous days reading. Midnight it was 3.8C . Anyway

Sunny spells with ssw breeze gradually getting milder slow thaw continuing.

Max temp so far 5.1C

Barometer 1027mb falling

Wind F3 SSW

Rainfall Nil

It is quite a difference for sure, at times I think your height asl may have something to do with it but at other times it seems rather unexpected. Even the airport got to -2C overnight before it closed down or at least stopped sending weather reports, still none coming out. Only 1 out and no inbound, 1030 TOM to Sharm el Sheik!

Another cold min with -4.5c at 1:55am.

Totally different on surrounding hills, A station 0.85 miles to my west and only 45m higher had a min of +1.6c, and for a while was about 10c warmer. Around 5:20 it was -3.9c here in the valley but +6.2c up there, 10.1c higher. This is due to the milder air flowing over cold air in the valley creating a strong inversion.

The temp suddenly rose around dawn as the breeze 'dislodged' the inversion, since then a cloudy day with a max of 10.0c at 12:53.

Cloud now increasing Sc type and the temperature seems about to start rising, having 'peaked' at 4.4C then drifting back to 4.2C it is on 4.4C again?
