Would that suggest it will take more of a Northerly track than FC?

After looking at the satellite/model outputs I think the track is pretty much going as per the latest models are predicting.

Whilst the north gets battered with storm force winds tonight the strongest winds for my location according to the 12z guidance look like occurring during Saturday morning in association with the second system. Wind speeds & gusts some 5-10mph stronger than what I can expect tonight.

Winds already picking up over Western Ireland, a bit stronger than forecast as well. http://www.xcweather.co.uk/

Clear skies and 6mph down here in far South, will pick up through the night, and touch gale force at times.

NMM4 wind gusts charts for the overnight period, going to be a very extreme night for the north with a sleepless night for some!

Friday morning up to 50mph here from Friday afternoon maybe up to 60mph. But at least it will feel like spring.

It is deeper, however these storm's usually have a relatively short live where the sting-jet type phenomenon forms.

So a rapid deepening now may mean the storm is weakening as it crosses northern Scotland.

Of course the storm is going to be violent up north but if it reach peak intensity just off shore and begins to fill slightly the risk of those gusts to near 110/120mph will reduce.

To me eye it looks like the extreme winds are further north on this with Orkney getting the worst?

So strange that it's fairly calm here just now, just a 14mph SW'ly at Edinburgh Airport circa 1820. To think in 6 hours it will be wild

Friday night into Saturday, round two for the north! Although wind speeds down a notch or two on tonight, also severe gales more widespread into Saturday morning and generally windy for most of the UK.

Thanks for Posting Liam.  Fri Night into Sat AM looks more windier than tonight into tomorrow, the further south you go!

Yeah, Friday night on into Saturday looks like bringing some wild weather to many areas further south. Obviously the major concern is for the far N&NW of the UK tonight - do not underestimate what is currently winding up over the Atlantic as we type! Significant disruption coming for Scotland.

You will certainly get a good battering from this event and again on Fri/Sat, Second storm poss stronger for you in Shetland as it tracks a bit further north.

The core of really damaging winds are predicted just to the south of Shetland but gusts could still reach 70-80mph for a time. Poss 90mph with the second storm.

I'd say Shetland one of the areas at risk of seeing the highest gusts?! Obviously just cloesby could see 100mph, but still 60-80mph at least for you guys.

Thanks Liam. Might be a bit wild then. Saturday looks bad in southern Shetland.

Wind continues to increase here, mean winds nearly touching severe gale force now over W ireland, again a little stronger than forecast. http://www.xcweather.co.uk/
