Winds picked up briefly here about 20 minutes ago accompanied by a very heavy shower. More of a North Westerly direction. I presume that was the cold front passing here.

Gotta feel sorry for the SPINE race runners this morning, 50mph gusts and more on Kinder Plateau, combined with heavy rain and the prospect of facing the entire pennine way in all this, not including snow by the end of the week.

Ours dropped from over 11c at 5.30 down to 5c now so it's coming.

The wind warning was due to expire at 10.00am but was updated just after 9am it has now been extended to 14.00pm, gusts to 60-70mph.

the webcams in shetland are just about holding up, although you can't see much from the airport one, and seem have lost the lighthouse one. The waves even in the harbour are getting their tops sheared off by the wind.

Still blowing a gale here although the gusts aren't as severe, really blustery hail/snow shower passing by.

I can hear it whistling in north sea not to bad here worst was 50 mph this morning and 35 mph during the day
