Winds gusting to 54mph at Dublin Airport, not that severe?  The highest gust at 22:00 was Killowen on the east coast of Ireland, 20mph mean gust 70mph!! NW Wales really catching it too.  http://www.xcweather.co.uk/

this chart shows winds and most other data using the Met O station circle, the wind speed at one western isle station mean speed is shown as 55 knots, so the gust might be interesting, also there are several stations (look on the right hand side for the pressure fall, in excess of 100 or 10.0 mb in 3 hours

met data is broadcast at the rate of 3h intervals which is why I posted it, but yes over a 4 h period quite unusual as it is for 3 h

In actual fact it's dropped 30mb in 6 hrs  (or twice times the broadcast intervals)

The possible storm on January 15th looks intense; especially if it directly tracks central England, which is an area that very rarely experience storms of that intensity (70-80 mph gusts).

The real strength should start to affect the Western Isles over the next couple of hours, could be some eye opening gusts recorded if model predictions are correct!

Looking on Flightradar24, there's one hell of an air jam around Dublin Airport and yet more planes crossing the UK to join it.

I hope it will shift northwards in the future runs. I love storms. It is my second favourite Winter weather type after snow, as long it is not life threatening to anyone.

Got gusty here now after that calm interlude early evening, recent gust of 25mph. Minuscule when compared to NW Scotland & Isles.

A little off topic but a holy moly chart from the 18z ensembles for next week.

- They might need to make a new level of warning, maybe a purple warning!?
