It maybe because it is hitting places overnight, so the impact to life is lower? Power disruption and structural damage risk is still there though.

Don't need to worry about the Lorry drivers who work nights only in this Country!

Could argue the opposite. People unaware now then get hit during the night with an almighty storm.

Power out and structural damage = red. Surely?

Well we rarely even get a warning up here for 80mph winds or snow. Seems the MO forget that there are 22,000 people up here.

Wind becoming very strong now and it's pouring with rain.

Western Isles beginning to feel the strength now, but it's going to get much worse when the wind swings westerly over the next few hours! http://www.xcweather.co.uk/

Yes how a red has not been issued bewilders me, still there's time, you can never play by chance. Flying tiles, what have you kills - and seriously injures. It's a known fact, you cannot guarantee everyone will be tucked in bed can you? so the appropriate move is to bump it to a red. To ensure the message is clear stay in home & sit it out. For the far NW a orange is not ample, it's simply not.

Yup, strongly suggest it is. Question is whether it will last until it touches down in Scotland

Yea, i too think the peak winds are occurring around now, probably well into hurricance force south of its centre. The storm is probably reaching it's maximum depth now and will slowly fill in next few hours, probably at its most dangerous phase in next 3-6hrs

Rather worrying for NW Scotland over the coming hours. this could have major impacts.

Now there's a a PTY at K5 buoy, -19.1

That is impressive.

No wind speed data is frustrating! would have made very interesting viewing  :wallbash:

It's expected to bottom out between midnight at 3am. Going by that, it's yet to do it's worst.
