A nice enough end to 2014 on the models tonight, they are desperate to get some ridging into scandi! If this trend continues then lets hope January ushers in disrupting lows with snow event, after snow event and we can all get buried in snow :D

Heres to all of us on this brilliant forum, im glad ive become an active member :gathering:

A very HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all :D:cold:

The GFS 18z runs especially the GFS P are actually pretty cold throughout the run with frequent cold NWerly incursions, not as bad at all as some were making out. More snowy spells would be likely for the Northern half of the UK, and possibly down to lower levels with -6 uppers at times.

Happy New Year as well...

GFSp was particularly decent for cold fans in FI wasn't it?

Plenty of transient snow chances and then a big finish promising more sustained cold and a break from the zonal train.

Well weak heights over Svalbard is a start, though given the pattern of low pressure pushing through the UK from west to east might suggest that the GFS(P) is being a little ambitious in providing so many snow chances when temperature could very likely be a little too high for snow.

Anyway lets hope those heights if they do develop can push low pressure further south than it is currently modelled.

Happy new year everyone.

Happy New Year, Hopefully a new year brings better snow prospects for those who want snow and storms in summer. Keep up the good posts in here.

looks like GFS P looks better anyway tonight on the Pub run!

Happy new year 2015 all - feels like bombs are going off around my parts with the constant thuds & booms. Another year gone past all we can hope is for more to come - that is best token not a 2010 style freeze. :)

Well, I will take this for the last op output chart of 2014 thank you very much...

post-5114-0-08866400-1420077023_thumb.jp

Much better run with an interesting ejection of energy SE on D8, better Arctic ridging throughout and eventual Greenland heights in FI land. A zonal outlook is soooooo 2014.

Happy New Years everybody!!!
