Probably an inch or more now at only 75asl. Still going strong with huge flakes falling at the moment!

Thanks for that sequence. I'm totally with you - more ESE/SE if anything.

Hi guys, been lightly raining here for an hour or so, temp around 2degC...looks like no snow for us as Low is tracking SE taking the main precipitation away from our part of E.Yorkshire...north of the Humber estuary...thought the f/cast was too good to be true...

Looks like the northern edge of the snow is beggining to push back westwards, hopefully bring in some moisture from the north sea and pep it up as well as make it last longer.

Snow in Leeds, Crossgates now. Didn't think we'd get anything from this!

Off to Liverpool tomorrow for a callout...

Today's low, currently centred across the SW Midlands, definitely tracked ESE a little further north than the 00z UKMO mesoscale model was showing this morning, probably why they've had to correct north their snow risk area.

Hi Nick do you see any snow potential for the SE into the wee hours on the back edge? Cheers...

Seems like some power lines are not happy with the snow sticking to them. UPS is earning it's keep tonight.

Looking at the trend on the EURO4,

It is trend was to take the front northwards and the snow risk northwards.

    This had a double effect

    1. To push the snow zone further north

    2. To extend the warm sector further north.

This post earlier showed how the projected track of the LP changed over the past 2 days and this affected the snow locations.

Very very windy in Exeter, wandering if they've got the strength correctly as it feels stormy, slight rain falling, typical we don't get the snow in Devon and Cornwall, could understand if we were in the tropics...

Went to see what the overnight weather would be like on bbc news and the weather forecast went straight to weather from 8am, useless!!

Temp has risen to 1.8°C with a slight easterly breeze that has set up. DP has also risen to 0..9°C so looking less and less like snow will replace the sleet we are having. This is all too common here with easterlys, as Reef has said earlier, presumably the effect of the (relatively) warm N Sea

First sleet of the winter though.....

As anyone can see from the radar, snow is still falling here and it looks like it won't be letting up for a while. Sometimes being in the middle of the country is good!

Amazingly the Beeston snow barrier has been down for well over 3 hours. Glorious, Hollywood snow to begin, then standard moderate stuff. Prob 2" lying now. This bears an uncanny resemblance to what happened on Boxing Day night, 1962 (for anyone who can remember!!), when I was 7 and living in Hatch End. The rest is history...

had rain most of the afternoon, tiny bit of sleet at approx 3:30pm when traveling to teweksbury, temperature was 3-4 degrees c (according to car)

left teweksbury at 9pm temperature was 12 degrees, got back to worcester it was 10 degrees ( again according to car) with mist starting to form

wind has now started picking up in worcester, just got back from going to get something eat and now the temperature is 2 degrees (once again according to car)

now i know car thermometers are not the most accuate but that is a good sized drop in just over an hour
