No snow, but pretty strong winds all night that I don't think were forecast.

Whatever happened to that low that was supposed to come down the East of the country?

Was wet and windy night here, once I got home and inside though it was all but a memory thanks to the double glazing.

Winter tyres are very under estimated.

Yes, winter tyres will transform your car. A 2-wheel drive car fitted with winter tyres will frequently leave 4x4s floundering. And they're not just recommended for snow or ice conditions either, but whenever the temperature drops to 8c. For me it's routine - with winter tyres fitted every October and stored again at the end of March. As stated - very under-estimated.

14cm to 17 cm here measure at three points in the garden. Could be over an inch of rain as well. Melting the snow in the rain gauge right now. There was 11.8mm in the gauge and funnel was full so plenty more to add.

same here PM, I walked down to A6 this morning and I have never seen it that snowy through Matlock on the road at that time for decades. the road was white over with snow and slush at 10.00am, must been no gritting, although cars wee driving ok, but in past years you can have 20cms on the side roads and the A6 is usually clear, right down to tarmac.

Hmm that's definitely now mph even though the map says it is lol, is that 143mph at Portland? It was pretty windy here, but nothing too unusual with it being windier many times last winter and at least once this Autumn. Certainly not 80-90mph inland gusts so must be km/h I'd guess.

Here's the corrected one they posted. Not much of a difference,

Got 2 hours of sleep, 5 hours of snow and ended with a fall of 6cm.

Not bad. I thought we'd either miss out altogether or just get a dusting.

A complete non starter if you live in the south, home counties and most of East Anglia...the search for the elusive snow flake goes on.

So far the rainfall figure is 32.4mm of rain some more melt from the funnel then should have a final figure. Imagine the depth from that if it had been dry snow.

The rain at the beginning would have washed some away but Derbyshire cut back on the gritting last year to almost not bothering at all from my observations when out driving through the peak.

Rainfall total 34mm

Oh well - missed out on this occasion, had the front been 150 miles further north we would have been in business, alas not a snowflake to be seen. Still the fells have a good fresh white mantle on them and should retain their cover over next few days.

We actually got up to 1cm of snow before the warm sector came through and the rain washed our accumulations away.

I can't imagine the snow drought will last for much longer, the charts are showing colder and colder zonality, maybe at some point we'll have another battleground scenario.

I can't stop hoping lol

cold zonality is useless for our region, unless you live above 300m, northerners even low levels, possibly the best setup
