I always spare a thought for the fishermen in these conditions ,who hopefully ,will be in port ,without doubt one of the worlds most dangerous jobs !!!!...

I tend to feel more sorry the fish :sorry:

I hope that that people in the north keep safe with this incoming storm, kind of a little envious, loved all the storms we had in the south last year that usually the north get.  Still I think we may get some gales thursday night into Friday?

The fish are sheltered from the winds at least!

Good time for the fish... lots of extra food sturdy up. They will be more than happy.

that's why you see a lot at anglers hitting the coast on hi tides etc :)

Stornoway had 59knots at 10am so 68mph. Only going to get higher

Ferries to the mainland have now been cancelled from Shetland for tomorrow. Inter-island ferries are disrupted. The airport is facing problems to.

Think we have had a 60mph gust here.

Wish I was on a ocean cruise right now. Would love to experience a violent storm at sea.

One of our more exposed Scottish weather stations has been taken out by the storm. I suspect more will follow!

Which one Nick? I know that one has gone offline in Shulista in Skye, but it's actually calming down here a bit. Lost our telly and mobile phone signals, but much worse to come tomorrow!

Meteo Earth's take on things at lunchtime tomorrow. That is such a long fetch of those winds, nothing standing in their way until they reach the Northern half of the UK.

Nice squall beginning to develop along the frontal boundary, should make things a little livelier overnight as it moves ever south.

According to the local weather station, Monkspath Weather Station, the top gust so far today here has been around 14.5 mph. Solihull has got a lot of work to do if it's wants to take the No. 1 spot in the top 10 'Top Gusts' chart (which seems extremely unlikely).  :whistling:

Will Liverpool bay be affected as much as areas on the coast further North, fairly flat here and only a few miles inland

Gusts may reach 50mph along the coast, generally in the 40s inland, but not as bad as it will be further north.
