It seems that what is forcast and what is on the radar are two different things. MetO going for heavy snow in Merthyr from 5pm onwards. Radar would appear to say otherwise.

Yup Ian mentioned distinct possibility of thunder snow this can arise when relatively warm SSTs meet with very cold upper air, when these clash heavy potent snowy thundery showers show up. :cold:

Sleet turned to snow in Central Swansea earlier today circa, with heavy snow up here. Settled on grass and roofs and cars. Earlier sleety showers prevented any settling on pavements / roads

2 hrs later, still a covering on the grass, although thawing on grass especially close to house with cover on cars untouched.

Just rain here, no chance of anything sticking unless it dries out.

was heavy rain earlier just outside Swansea where I work...then it turned quickly to give a covering within 10 mins......you may get lucky later temp dropped to 1 C here

Yup, turned to snow right down to sea level in Swansea for a time earlier, didn't last to long but still better than nothing.

That's true, having seen the BBC forecast my confidence has increased as it had snow over most of south Wales for a good 3-4 hours.

Some hefty showers in there and in the heavier showers, quite possibly snow,, while perhaps less wintry in the lighter precipitation.

It really comes down to now casting now.
