A weak frontal zone will bring outbreaks of mainly light sleet and snow to parts of northern, western and mid-Wales during late Sunday evening and the early hours of Monday. Snow is most likely inland where localised accumulations of between 1 and 3 cm could occur. Meanwhile, in coastal areas rain and sleet is more likely than snow. Surfaces which are either untreated or see showers washing off any earlier treatment will readily become icy in these showers.

Outbreaks of mainly light sleet and snow will allow icy patches to form, especially on untreated surfaces and where showers wash off any earlier road treatment. Inland localised accumulations of between 1 and 3 cm could occur. Please be aware of the potential for difficult driving conditions and slippery surfaces.

That is odd quite a good batch of moderate intensity showers feeding in.

Again.... trying to get a few more followers I expect. His last quoted tweet was quite wrong for NW Europe.

A depression developing west of Britain during Tuesday afternoon is expected to reach southwestern UK late on Tuesday evening or very early Wednesday and then continue slowly eastwards into southern England before turning south and gradually moving away into France later on Wednesday. The associated frontal system is expected to be an active feature associated with some heavy rain and hill snow, whilst the highest winds are expected in the southwestern quadrant of this depression. Widespread rainfall accumulations of 20 to 30 mm are expected, and very locally 50 to 60 mm could fall. Any snowfall amounts at low levels are very uncertain and will be very much dependent on precipitation rates, readily turning back to rain as intensities ease. The exact track and intensity of this depression remains subject to a little uncertainty which in turn leaves the location of the highest rainfall accumulations on a county scale subject to some ongoing uncertainty.

Persistent rain, heavy at times, is expected from the early hours of Wednesday, continuing during the morning before slowly easing in the afternoon. Accompanied by windy conditions, this rain is likely to produce some flooding and difficult driving conditions. Some sleet and snow is also likely in places, mainly on higher ground above 300 m, though temporary snowfall accumulations of 1-2 cm are also possible at low levels. Please be aware of the risk of localised flooding and disruption to transport.

mountain forecast - beacons

Periods of heavy rain or sleet through the morning, with snow above 250 metres. Through the afternoon the rain, sleet or snow will become lighter, with the sleet and snow lifting to above 600 metres. Dry conditions with broken cloud will spread eastwards through the evening. Winds becoming strong or gale northerly through the morning, with a significant windchill developing, then later in the day the northerly wind gradually eases.

Snowing like crazy and settling at (where else?) Dowlais Top and Rhymney.

Heavy, driving sleet here which is turning increasingly to snow.
