There was a light frost this morning. Crisp clear skies and feeling pretty warm in the sunshine. It's way too bright out there for me! Fish the sunglasses out.

Well I must admit if not snow then this is the next best weather for me at the moment! Clear, calm and not bad at 11. 7C with 23% humidity! I do look forward to it getting a bit warmer now and the trees and plants starting to blossom again!

It's always next week and it never comes, winter 2016 in my opinion is over for any low lying snow

Tomorrow looks wintry for some parts of Wales as colder air spreads in from the North West.

A snapshot of some of the GFS 12z data for tomorrow morning:

uppertemps.thumb.png.3a94e1f6f0ce80ef1b7dewpoint.thumb.png.96e28fcabe033f1fe72ecsnowrisk.thumb.png.8700c81a06cf864ab2ad5

Best chances will be in North & East Wales, higher ground of South Wales possible but I'm sceptical of the Dew Points shown especially at lower resolution. Will await EURO4 & NMM 12z data. A real mix either way with hail and thunder thrown in.

Friday early hrs  onwards seems to be our best chance of getting snow cover across Wales as winds swing more to a North direction,of course it can snow anytime during heavier bursts as dew points drop.

Now good chance this will be the snowiest spell of the winter as spring brings big surprises,as this winter has brought near zero.

Weather Warning For WALES

1.

Yellow warning of snow and ice

DatesWarningChief Forecaster's assessmentWeather Impact Matrix

Issued at:
1054 on Tue 1 Mar 2016

Valid from:
0005 on Wed 2 Mar 2016

Valid to:
1000 on Wed 2 Mar 2016

Showers or outbreaks of rain will turn wintry overnight, with the risk of a more prolonged spell of snowfall late in the night and during Wednesday morning, especially in the south. This will give a covering of snow with 1-4 cm possible in places and locally 5-10 cm, these higher accumulations mainly above 200 m. Icy stretches on untreated roads and pavements are also likely to form. Please be aware of some difficult driving conditions and the potential for travel disruption into the Wednesday morning rush hour. There remains some uncertainty as to where the greatest snowfall accumulations will occur and this warning will be kept under review and updated as necessary.

A cold front will move east and south across the United Kingdom through Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. This will introduce significantly colder air with frequent showers, these turning readily to sleet and snow even at low levels. 1 to 4 cm is expected in some areas by dawn Wednesday with up to 10 cm in places. These higher accumulations are more likely over higher ground above 200 m but may also occur to low levels where showers are heavy and prolonged. This is perhaps most likely across parts of Lancashire, the Manchester area and the Peak District and may result in local medium impacts. Clear spells between showers will also lead to icy stretches forming on untreated surfaces.

showers turning to snow in ireland as we speak and heading this way

euro 4s take on the morning - meto/bbc always increase the look on these when transfering to their maps - increasing snow chances/precipitation etc
