what's the thoughts on Imogene's impact in south wales tomorrow?

xc weather have me down for 70 mph gusts but the met have mid to high 50's.

will it be comparable to the worst of 2013/14 winter?

had sleet and hail last night too - keep an eye on tuesday onwards - snow for pancake day lol

once you've sorted out your fences after the storm moves through monday - looking really really nasty - we don't get flooding so much up here but when those winds hit - we don't half hear and feel it

keep an eye on thursday friday too - synoptics look right for a good dumping over those two days!

here are the details - An area of very strong winds is likely to extend east across southwest England and parts of central southern England on Monday morning. Gusts of 60-70 mph are likely widely, with 80 mph gusts in exposed coastal areas, particularly Cornwall and North Devon, and also through the Bristol Channel. Some very large waves are also likely to affect many coasts, in particular north coasts of Cornwall and Devon. Winds should gradually ease through the afternoon and evening. Please be prepared for disruption to travel as well as possible damage to trees and structures, and interruption of power supplies. This is an update to the warning to extend the amber area to cover more of the Bristol Channel, including Cardiff and Bristol, and also English Channel coasts of Sussex and Kent.

and as if that wasn't enough - have some of this at the same time lol - Rain will move quickly eastwards on Sunday afternoon and evening, followed by frequent showers overnight and through Monday. The showers are likely to be heavy at times and accompanied by hail and thunder, with very strong and gusty winds. Be aware of the potential for localised surface water flooding.

Very windy here, tomorrow morning school run will be fun trying to avoid the recycling bags.

I also checked 7 day forecast on here and saw sleet building up to full on snow Sat. I am not getting my hopes up but it would be lovely

to have snow on hubbys birthday. My eldest had snow albeit a 10 minute shower on his b'day last November he was so excited lol.

Hope everyone escapes any damage over the next 24 hours.

gfs-2-36.png?18

edit - mental conditions here again with the wind and rain and some signs of some wintriness in there too hail and maybe sleet

mumbles increasing now to 66 mph - i can testify to that - winds in these "showers"/"fronts" are getting higher and higher up here

just details - euro4 plus nmm will give us a better idea of where snow may or may not fall closer to the time - but the general overall picture is good for us as the temps at night from monday night onwards progressively get colder and colder into the freezer

gfs-2-90.png?18

some serious low temps being progged for thursday friday night hopefully setting the scene for when the atlantic trys to make it's next break through and dump a load of snow on Wales

enter the atlantic

gfs-2-138.png?18

gfs-2-144.png?18

gfs-2-150.png?18

snowy nirvana heaven

gfs-2-156.png?18

and so it continues over the snow fields of Wales - either the 18z has had a massive drink tonight orrrrrrrrr

Winter Strikes Back

Not much happening up here, occasional blustery showers, bit of wind, pretty similar to the last few months really. Eventually we will break free of this pattern.
