Only time will tell if we get lucky. Think there'll be lots of us lamp post and radar watching tonight. I'm nervously optimistic.

And snow and hail falling from it even at sea level this time of day.  Happy days

Looking at the radar, I suspect we may begin seeing snow falling in Wales considerably earlier than expected.

It's looking good. Dew points are much lower today too. Every little helps. :)

Ripe conditions for snow for most parts, just a case of where heaviest showers will be

Yep it does here in Blaenau Ffestiniog it is snowing after a period of soft hail and now the ground is turning white.

DP between -1 an -3

As I finished typing it has eased off but according to the radar there is more upstream on the streamer!  :yahoo:

I can't work out if the streamer is heading S-SE, towards Southeast Wales, or more generally SE towards the West Midlands.

I think it's probably the latter, but we shall see on the next few radar runs!

Either way, it's definitely intensifying.

Central east Wales looks the direction its heading reports coming out of irish thread of heavy snow from these showers.lets see if they grow or fade as they get to Wales.

Traditionally these tend to go more over the border towards Midlands but the ones that do come to South East Wales tend to fizzle out.

Hope the latter is not the case tonight and indeed hope the former doesn't occur either!

Channel 5 forecast is having none of it for Wales tonight :(

Another streamer setting up over Anglesey and Gwynedd, showers also breaking out in Ceredigion and Cardigan Bay. Some real pokiness in some of that precipitation.

Wouldn't be surprised to see significant accumulations across the mountains of north wales by dawn. Also i will point out a chance of thunder and a flash of lightning in these showers.
