met office computer completely gone nuts today - that's the third time I've had this e-mail - maybe it's adamant it's gonna happen - don't see anything just yet though

Yellow Warning of Snow and Ice for Wales : Blaenau Gwent, Bridgend, Caerphilly, Cardiff, Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Gwynedd, Isle of Anglesey, Merthyr Tydfil, Monmouthshire, Neath Port Talbot, Newport, Pembrokeshire, Powys, Rhonnda Cynon Taff, Swansea, Torfaen, Vale of Glamorgan & Wrexham valid from 1400 Sat 31 Jan to 1200 Sun 01 Feb

much more interesting gfs 12z today - really trying to retrogress the high to give a much more favourable position for an easterly - temps will be much less marginal then - just need the snow to go with it - but we could easily have one of those major atlantic pushes as well against the cold air to provide feet of snow

Andy,

I think there were some glitches with the earlier warnings. Odd gaps in the maps. This seems to overlap the two main areas.

Odd hail showers here. But they eventually melt. Really gusty winds.

Much different now to this morning with 2c and thawing, now 2c and freezing and still cloud about the dry air has kicked in.

Had a shower with gave a sprinkling and blowed off the roof that's normal from a NW-ly.

Is the wind is coming from the North, and with such strength... Why isn't it colder??

Sea temps too warm?

The disadvantage of strong/gale force winds too near the coast even 30 mile from the sea.

Nothing is getting far enough east to hit Cardiff. Bone dry here.

best to keep expectations low tonight, I fear that after midnight the showers will be more scattered just as it gets cold enough

Ground covered in hail here and there's quite a bit of snow in the mix now, too!

Just hope there's enough legs in the showers to last a bit further into the evening.

Finally have a negative dew point, allbeit only just (-0.2). Hopefully might see some snow from the showers coming through.

GFS 18z shows a feature running down through Wales at 60h.

There would be precipitation but what kind?
