Still 3 degrees just north of tenby, rain picking up a little but still cold hard little rain drops. Wet cat also just returned through cat flap, not sure how relevant, probably just cold wet and hungry.

4.9 deg..       raining steady, possibly to far south for today but over night and tomorrow if theres any precip then who knows. Dont expect anything for the next week apart from coldest weather this winter so far,,, but am feeling very positive for middle of jan onwards.

Cohan updated info:

http://www.aer.com/s...tic-oscillation

Bodes well for rest of winter and current model outputs show far from warm 850 temps going forward to end of runs.

Todays little system corrected south and west in the last 2 days, thats 48hrs out..... Was initialy thaught north and north east england would get in on the action,, now they are forcast dry....

If there are slight corrections made at 240 hrs out then by t+0 large differences will show..

i am hopefull the models will become V interesting by start of new year!!!

Not to say there is no interest currently.

Happy Xmas!!!

Steady drizzle for the last hour or so near Presteigne. Good vis of hill tops as well which suggests no snow higher up either at the moment - though the hills are only up to about 400m.

Temp here has dropped from a high of 4.1 at 11.30 to 2.4. Dew point now 0.6. Precipitation started of as straight rain but with evaporative cooling there has been a notable change to rain and snow with the emphasis on more snow in the mixture as time goes by.

Judging by the radar returns we are in the light ppn zone at the moment.

Will try and keep posting throughout but more especially after 1700.

Given up any hope of anything at all never mind any covering - temperature has dropped to 3.9°C last hour - but watching the latest Beeb forecast nothing much coming around South Wales and next 3 or 4 days nothing of note either.

Warnings for........ don't know, be aware of disappointment it should state!

Your location should be borderline later

I would still be in hope there

In Cardiff itself i have seen some sleet but here it was never expected to be accumulating snow.

That low seems to have stalled somewhat

However it seems more likely that from now on temperatures and dew point will lower

Evaporative cooling whilst winds are light

first visible snow now on the merthyr webcams
