We had a beautiful starry night here too, but only when you looked straight up. At ground level it was foggy, but the fog was only a few metres deep. Very surreal. Dense misty fog this morning which feels very autumnal, lovely weather :D

Grey, misty, calm and damp here but at least we've had a bit of temperature variation at last since it got down to 6.5C overnight. Looks like the rest of the day is going to be rather cool and damp feeling but the heavy rain that was being forecast yesterday doesn't look as if it's going to come after all.

Models look uninspiring but it's only Nov and anything beyond around 5 days looks to be dodgy anyway at the moment.

Low light  day today rather cool currently 6.5c .Robin keeping me company in the tractor cab and thousands of geese in neighbouring fields  Winds from the east and north have occurred this month too when we had none last November and we have had a bit of rain as a result.  A grumpy old farmer feels  the weather may go into proper winter mode any moment from the animals behaviour and the look of the countryside in the low light. Just a hunch no science to back it

2c now with thick fog again something we did not get last November but very seasonal all the same.

Nice foggy start here, chilly, low sun, atmosphere completely still. Fine Autumn Day.

Thought I would grab this image from Cloud 10 post in Model Thread, hidden among the ensembles at a ridiculous range so, but very easy on the eye.

Beast of a Northerly and most of the cold pool on our side of the Hemisphere - got to love GFS low res output for throwing up everyone's hopes and dreams -Haha !

Yup some nice looking charts on the ECM tonight but interestingly the GFS aswell.....Atlantic being pushed back as the blocking proving stronger than the models previously anticipated..... Which is nice

Real will it? won't it? stuff on the MO thread today with the models switching from Atlantic to NE block. Tomorrow could be interesting.

Turned out not that bad a day here, miles from the rainfest predicted only a day or so ago. Temp mid afternoon was 10C and with no wind it felt pleasant. Cloud broke up a bit and we almost saw the sun. Looks like the rain is heading back in from the east tonight though.

A really nice day today.  Cool at around 6C, calm, with fog and murk coming and going.  Felt properly autumnal.  Managed to get up above the murk for a brief moment before the sun went down and the fog rolled in again.

When ECM gets its ramp on it doesn't mess around, this was an evident bias akin to GFS shoving everything through the meridian last winter, need to be careful with it. Although the top verifying model and the 'go to' set of charts it is not without the odd mad one..

IMO we still have a bit of a disconnect here, still hints of 09/10 will make for great model viewing - a theme that will continue for all of this winter. It's going to be great. Indeed Ross, that chart should drag LS from posing for photos :)

You've got to wile away the non-snow chasing hours somehow (plus how often do you get a chance to have a selfie with the big man?)  :)

Superb charts tonight after the block was, predictably, a bit tougher to shift than advertised although not quite as spectacular as the early ECM charts showed. Actually, my main concern at the moment is that we miss the Atlantic spell I touted for early December

Lovely late autumn day today. Felt very comfortable in a light jumper today. Especially so, in the very low and weak sun. Currently 9.4c here after a high of 10.7c (Dumfries).

Amazing how ignorant one can be when your in town and sleep till afternoon for the past two weeks. I barely see much daylight now when in Stirling so you lost track of the weather. It seems to have been a very wet spell according to our fields and the muddy golf course.

Seems like a nice drying pattern is going to setup, despite calls of the Atlantic train ramping up from some posters in the MOD thread.

Hopefully, this will enable a nice cooling trend to establish with cold air beginning to form to our east as well as to our North :)

Haha, that is very late. Quite strange.

It's quite a contrast between home where i'm up before 9 (things to do and a 'plan of action' from mother) although I'm not asleep until 1/2am.

Whereas, in Stirling, I can do lots of stuff, get lunch, travel 2 hours up the road and still find some of my flatmates sleeping or barely up at 3/4pm haha. Very nocturnal :)

This isn't definitive but by the looks of it it's -4C, recorded last Monday 10th at Loch Glascarnoch and Drumnadrochit http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/weather/maps/current?LANG=en&UP=0&R=310&TYP=tmin&ART=tabelle&LANG=en&DATE=1415620800&KEY=UK&LAND=UK&CONT=ukuk&SORT=3&SI=mph&CEL=C&UD=1

This could be good though as it would satisfy the BWI (Blizten's Winter Indicator) which quite clearly states that any snow in the first three weeks of November is very wrong :D

It's ok!....I will accept your gracious apology when I am proved right! :p  On the other hand, I will grovel wihout shame when I am proved wrong!

-21ºC with wind chill, every day in the freezers at work :D I'm the only person who likes going into them to feel the cold.

I'll not be apologising as I hope you are 100% right, I'm with you on the "don't let it snow too early" idea  :)

Yes this pretty much sums up the last week here.

It's been the same here, lovely autumn weather. The fog cleared last night when the rain started, still raining on and off this morning.

Edit: I've had a quick flick through the GFS & ECM, this morning's RR (Rampede Rating) is about 1 out of 10. Background signals may be good this year but it looks as if it'll be December at least before anything kicks off. Which is the way it should be :D It's good when the weather does what it's supposed to do.
