Absolutely freezing. Feels colder than during winter, probably because of the warm spell we had during the week. Very chastening wind out there.

Off to Glencoe tomorrow. Wind looks OK there. Snow down to car park again!

What a week or so. Up in Forres last weekend, and had 19C when wandering around Brodie on the Easter egg hunt.

Friday was 17C and very pleasant, and had a great walk round Beecraigs, red deer basking in the warm sun.

Woke this morning to black clouds, snow, hail, sleet, wind etc and a temp of 1C at 11:30am

Friend got a cracker of a rainbow west of Dundee earlier..

Cold, very very wet. Flakes of snow in the sleety rain.

Only 3.2c. Yesterday may have been much better than anticipated but today has been horrendous so far... Forecast to clear by 1ish, can't come soon enough

Heavy showers overnight here, heavy enough to disturb the onion sets.  Radishes have germinated  :D so the world is a slightly better place and I must leave notes everywhere for the family to look after various seedlings while I'm away.

Today is just how you'd describe a typical spring day - showers drifting through but nice and warm in the sun.

Most of our daffodils are past their best NL :(

South facing ones are looking done but north facing, sheltered ones are at their peak.

Well today was interesting...

I was very very nearly proved wrong re my prediction of no further lying snow back in the first week of March.

Temp rose to 6.5c at around 10am but then fell to under 4c by 10:30. Rain had bits of wet snow mixed in. The precipitation just got heavier and heavier lowering the temperature and therefore turning completely to snow at all levels by 11am.

By 11:30 it was a full on blizzard with the snow being far less watery with the temperature down to 1.7c. Started to lightly cover parts of the ground. Peaked about 11:50 when it was only 0.9c and snowing heavily. Almost a covering across some surfaces (nothing on roads etc).

Classic example of evaporative cooling.

Temp is now climbing rapidly at 5.1c and the sun is breaking through.

One last hurrah of winter then, a slow moving front or a 'slider' are still pretty good this late in the year. Snow showers are far too affected by the sun now but it juts shows that with the right kind of conditions but nothing extraordinary we were almost able to get some proper lying snow - even on very wet ground.

Hills at 100m and above were very white.

Thankfully, I had a lot of snow in January otherwise this would be a winter which has teased on so many occasions. Snow has fallen on over 20 days but on almost all of those has no given a covering.

Its easier to give them minerals and concentrate feeding in the steading and keeps them from gorging themselves on new grass and since they have been going out every day over the winter to a row of turnips they like keeping the routine until   there is enough grass growth to go out full time. They are getting a tractor bucket of neeps spread on the grass every day.

Weather forecast; aiming to put cows and calves out full time on the 20th April. Within two days of this we will have a direct northerly with snow showers.

Very windy this morning ,mostly blue skies with some high cloud and currently 16c.

Just had a look at the model thread.Seems my forecast may not be too far out if the trends are borne out.

Yes it's certainly looking like the 2nd half April will be on the unsettled side, With some sort of cool Northerly flow. The GFS does not want to drop this idea.
