Was @frightfest in Ra Weej last night, and drove home around 0100...

That's possibly the windiest I've ever driven in, some of the gusts actually pushed my car over into the next lane...thank god it was early morning otherwise I'd have had no chance.

Only a moderate westerly breeze up here in invergordon - must be near the centre of the low. I expect the wind will pick up here soon as the the low moves away.

Now off to play Roy Orbison's"it's over" on the iPod now it's the end of winter;-)

It's quiet here, so who'd take bets on ...

1. The Met Office issuing weather warnings at 11.05 am today for snow showers this evening and tonight. Yellow be aware, impact low, mainly high routes, drifting, covering in places, yada, yada, yada

2. The Met Office issuing weather warnings on Saturday at 11.05 am for heavy snow on Monday morning. Yellow be aware, impact high, uncertainty, track further north or south, significant disruption, rush hour, yada, yada, yada.

Good game, good game, hope you're all playing at home  :)

"The public are advised to be aware of tricky travel conditions generally, and possible disruption to transport ... in particular for road travel on Monday morning ... This seems most likely for parts of Scotland ..."

Yep, any easterly looks dead in the water now (not that it made it out of a computer's predictions based on complex algorithms of course).

That would probably bring a taste of early summer surely Catch? - clear skies permitting...

I should see some snow up in Stirling on Monday/Tuesday... Hopefully some will lie. None forecast down here, bring on Spring!

With uppers of <4ºC at +240hrs I'm not sure it would be overly summery, but defo springlike if there is sun and not cloud.

The weather warning out for snow showers in the west and north looks pretty reasonable, mentions snow to low levels but thawing during the day.

Wet snow shower here.

That's good by the standards of this winter! It snowed here the other day, forgot to mention it but it was the same shower which hit Poots of Peebles earlier on in the day, could have been Friday. It lasted all of sixty seconds :D

We had a 20-30 cm (difficult to say for sure with the drifting) snowfall in Moffat on 12th March 2006. Parts of Dumfries & Galloway got hit by a bigger snowfall on 24th March 2013. I reckon Spring begins in April.  :)

Oh it definitely does...

But there is nothing to suggest otherwise ATM. Ian Fergusson (works for the met) said a few weeks ago that the met saw a high taking charge with temperatures above normal until late March and that is (seemingly) going to occur.

I had about 18 inches on the 23rd/24th March 2013 but that required excellent Synoptics which just aren't on show currently and that takes up out to the last 10 days or so of March, where lying lasting snow IMO, is pretty rare... Certainly IMBY

Showers getting progressively more wintery with earlier rain now a mix of hail, sleet and snow. Radar looks loaded with showers out to the west. Current temperature 4.4c and dewpoint 2.9c.

Absolute carnage on the north and southbound M77. Southbound has a car slid off the road and rolled to a stop. Northbound has Clio sitting on top of crash barrier. No side on the car looks like a really bad one.

Heavy hail showers catching people out.

With respect to the Met Office (and I do have a lot of respect for them), whatever it saw a few weeks ago for late March was only educated and well resourced crystal ball gazing. The only near certainty that I can see is that high pressure with warm uppers will be in place at the weekend. The GFS ensembles are clear on that.

The way I see it, into next week, we could be in for a mild spell, heading back to where we are now, or even slipping towards that mythical easterly.

Last shower was hail and then snow. Left a brief slushy covering on the car windscreen. Moving in the right direction...

Just back north after being away and it's snowing here

Heavy snow also while driving through drumochter and feet of the stuff stacked up at the roadside. Standard Drum. Bus load of tourists out jumping about in the snow and taking pics in a blizzard, nice to see

On the advice of my step-dad I've chosen not to drive up to my flat in Stirling tonight. Apparently the M74 is pretty bad at Abington summit, down to 15mph with only 1 and half lanes fairly clear of snow.

I'll set off tomorrow at 12 in the hope of being there for 2ish which should be the most risk free time of day for travel I'd imagine...

Snow? Nah, I don't believe any of you. It's been a bright, sunny day here and felt warm and springlike. Well it felt springlike if you were in the sun and out of the strong wind. If you were in the strong wind and out of the sun it felt like winter again.

I've given up, I'm in spring mode now. I just want the lighter nights and warmer weather. Itching to get out more, get the garden going again etc.
