Hmm.... Nothing overnight so just the stupidly light dusting from mid afternoon persisting here although even that has diminished. Not expecting anything else looking at the radar.

Still.... It's a nice day and feels like winter so plenty to be thankful for

The showers have reached me and happily falling as snow and actually pretty heavy. I was a bit concerned as the temperature had crept up to 1.3c and dp 0.4c.

don't be greedy and keep it moving east  :D

Unfortunately its rain here in Coatbridge at the moment. The trees are all dripping so thaw has started. :sorry:

Temps will drop off over tomorrow and into Monday, expecting some bitter nights with hard frosts in the mornings...

I'd rather the cold than the rain

Snow did not fall overnight but it is snowing now but nothing like the snow that fell last night and there has not been even a slight melt. Here is to more snow today.

The odd light shower early in the night but dry since. Can't find the binoculars to read the shed thermometer and I'm not venturing out in my jimjams in this weather. Guess at -2C.

Snow still quite light with the odd heavy burst but not really adding to existing cover. There does seem like some heavier showers to the west but not sure if they will die out as they move east. 1.5c/0.7c.

NMM shows two bands coming through tonight. First around 4am affecting the central belt, another around breakfast time affecting Edinburgh, Fife and the Lothians. Surface temps below zero so any show should hopefully stick. Northerly really kicking in tomorrow though!

Decent covering here today, we already have a wee snowman in the street. The sky looks heavy and we've just had another shower. I'll happily settle for this after lots of non-events this winter. Might even be able to get the sledge out for the kids (me) at this rate!

Hmm yeah I think we need to be careful what we wish for from the overnight band as the air temp looks marginal for low level / coastal snow unfortuntaely - I'm looking at the 850s on NMM.  Tomorrow looks like the dog's b0110x though, frigid unstable northerly flow :cold:

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
