Over an inch here now, falling in subzero temperatures so it's nice and dry.  I don't mind admitting.......I'm so happy :)

That's your 280m of altitude paying dividends again!

A few flurries of wet snow here at work in St Andrews this morning. 2c/0c.

RE melting, temperatures are above 0C and the airmass is about as close to 'Arctic maritime' as you'll get, so DPs will stick close to 0C through the day but not low enough to prevent any melting. Fairly common to see this even in very snowy setups - most of the convective easterlies I can remember had at least slight daytime melt when snow stopped but precipitation remained as snow and accumulated when it was heavy.

Snow showers reaching Edinburgh too now it seems, not lying out here at KB but there was/is snow lying on Blackford Hill. A good sign for later since so far precipitation seems to have more than matched the extent predicted by the models.

I know, I feel for you...even worse my wife just emailed to say it's snowing lightly back in Crail :shok: . If it's any compensation there's no chance of it accumulating (currently at least)!

Just driven back from an appointment with my daughter. Only one incident of the car sliding but kept my cool. Went the back roads and everyone was very good at keeping great distance between each car! All white here.

Snow showers and sunny spells here (Thornton), a bit off and on. Some lying on the grass in the shade and paths are slippy but no accumulations to speak of. I expect a good freeze after sunset.

Nice pic there from Kelty Snowlover2  :)

Ally I should have said earlier we have had some tremendous falls in a SW flow with the 2009 boxing day night fall being from that direction if I recall correctly

Just over 4 inches here so far since last night and intrigued as to what more it will produce over the next 24hrs. Local roads showing signs of the beginnings of drifting. -1.4C. It really does get dark when the showers pep up, intense stuff

Aberdeen's sna' shield in W winds (aka the Grampians!) in full effect - nae sna' here, nil, nada, zilch!! :(

In slight consolation, it's a lovely sunny day, which is better than damp grey muck.

Whiteout here just now. Replaced all the snow lost to melting and added some more. Roads all white again. Very pretty. Hope it lasts until the older ones get out of school to enjoy.
