Temperature now at 1.2C and dropping steadily.

The sleety shower just touched us here about an hour ago.

It now looks as though any showers later on in the night will be all snow.

Keep everything crossed.

Literally haven't had anything all day apart from the odd sleety rain. We always miss everything! Not staying optimistic now.

Nasty little cell off the Pembrokeshire coast kicking off lots of lightning!

A really exciting evening for some.

Meanwhile the latest band has almost reached the English border...but has weakened. That's the only thing heading our way right now.

not so fussed about tonight, kept forgetting there was a snow risk, will thaw tomorrow anyway, my attention is focussed on the weekend and after, UKMO and ECM show potential snowfests, slider low great angle for us, GFS 12Z though spoils the party and gives me doubts about Sunday onwards

I hope you are right.

Really want this snow to happen. Can't remember the last time I woke up to that orange glow through the curtains but I can't help thinking I'm going to be disappointed. I guess I will have to just wait, watch lamp posts and see...

The next few weeks look especially cold so if you don't see any snow this evening don't be too disappointed there's going to be lots of chances over the next 14days.

Just noticed that myself! Not going to last long but another 10 minutes of snow falling will look pretty! Have to say the Met Office forecast has been really good for here. Bits of light snow throughout the night. Looking like that's whats going to happen!

Jealous of the thundery activity being reported from south Wales. The joys of being by the coast. Used to see a lot of thundersnow when i lived in Sunderland...it's amazing to witness!

Thundersnow.....another tick off my bucket list for me Gord

80% chance of snow with a 30% chance of a storm for our area tonight..........If only

worth waiting around for :)

edit; last runs on the radar indicates ppn fading fast

On this day in 2013 we expected snow and were gutted.

5 days later snowmageddon.

Keep the faith.

I got snow that day, front moved in from the west evening, around 3cms of snow, 14th was less cold with sleet/rain, before cold arrived on 15th

Plenty of potential snow bands heading this way on the radar.

The night is young.

Precipitation bands coming in off the Irish Sea into Wales do seem to be stretching north. The one aproaching us right now has held together better than the ones before it. I'm not going to stay up tonight but I think we do now have a smidgeon of interest.

If weather lovers in South Wales aren't leaping around with joy with all the sferics being picked up in the snow showers down there...then they don't deserve it!

I think the best snow arrives after midnight when a little feature moves east through our region and peps it all up, Patience .... It will snow.
