Quite blustery this morning, but dry with high level cloud. Temp around 7.8C, but feeling chilly in the wind.

Still have my SNOW symbol from the MetO for Friday morning.

Ha 3mm of rain overnight as wind switched to nw for about 2 hrs, just befoe the cold front came down.

Temperature also rose to 7.5 (from 5.9C min).Wind is now NNE and has freshened considerably;

Temperature now falling slightly to 7.0C, but the sky is clearing at last.

Was down to 2C by 7pm, skies totally clear, just been out and it hasnt dropped any further! Lost count of the number of clear nights this year that inexplicably failed to freeze. Its the curse of 2014.

Impressive. Definitely a better start to Winter this year in terms of cold, compared to last year.

Admittedly, my 0*C temperature recording was from what the phone's weather app was telling me at the time, although I admit that's not a particularly reliable way to determine what the actual temperature is at the time.

Got down to -3 around dawn, a good result considering how reluctant it seemed to be to drop in the evening. Unbroken sun since, if we keep it till 3pm it will be the sunniest day since the first half of September.

We managed a mere ten air frosts here throughout the whole of Winter 2013/14. 

 

By way of contrast, we've already chalked up one this winter with a few more possible in the next few days.

Aaaaaargh, my snow symbol for Friday and Sunday has disappeared. Hopefully, it will reappear or just be plain wrong

Netweather looking like derbyshires/ tamesides version of new yorks snow few weeks ago... Probably not to be trusted but would at least like to see festive snowflakes by next week...ps from that forecast 20-25cm on them there hills....

Yup here in Leicester we already had 5 or 6 frosts this year and thats even before winter has started!! I dont think we even managed the same amount of figures in the whole winter of 2013/2014!!!
