Certainly getting close to the magic 0*C mark on some of the above temperature readings. Around 2*C here at the moment, so getting closer. .

That time of year again.. Been popping into this site all summer.

Good to see the old gang here, moved back to Bolton in the summer so will be spending more time in the miserable North West regional thread.lol

Will still shove my head in here during the winter to see if the Northants snow shield has been penetrated

First Fizz, and now lancs_northants makes a reappearance too! Winter must be close. Good to have you back.

I would have thought Bolton, and indeed the NW generally, is a pretty good place for snow prospects (e.g. Cheshire Gap streamers etc) overall?

Didn't Northampton receive a shed-load of snow whilst you were there a couple of years ago? Feb 2012 perhaps.

2009 bish was the best I saw in my 20 years down there..

2010 was a disappointment.. With the northern parts of the East mids getting buried in snow, whilst we missed out.

Yeah, the North West can be a very good place for Snow, Bolton has some decent heights.. But anything from the East and the Pennines block it's path, can be frustrating.

Gosh I can only imagine how frustrating how December 2010 must have been. A similar thing happened here, I remember Rugby got very little whilst here in Solihull we got buried in the white stuff.

Fingers crossed for this winter. There are already some early stirrings in the Stratosphere.

Fire lit here too! Temp already down to 1C with signs of sparkling on the grass. Hopefully, it will be colder than last night, so defo looking for a -4C or lower.

There may be a chance of some light sleet or snow tomorrow if the temperatures don't lift too quickly, which they may not if it stays foggy.

Edit: just noticed that it about 3C cooler than this time yesterday, so lookng good.

Not a chance of sleet, let alone snow tomorrow, dewpoints way too high!! Cold here now, 0c/32f , two ground frosts and three air frosts this month,. better than the whole of last winter!
