I'll have both, if you're paying Gord!  :drunk:

Nice vibes in this thread tonight, in direct contrast to the infamous MOD thread - can't even be bothered to venture in there tonight. I'd rather keep my sanity intact, thank you very much.

clear as a bell, -2.5C, my look on models looks like the UKMO and ECM are too far east, looks like leading edge snow Tuesday evening, then rain for Wed, we are on the wrong side of the slider

GFS looks the snowiest, but likely a massive eastward shift on 18Z, to match other 2 models

Considering models always shift everything miles and miles further west/south west last minute I still wouldn't be surprised if the weather front never reached us at all and we end up with high pressure or an easterly of some kind.

So, if it does snow tonight, won't it melt tomorrow with temps of 4'c?

I need snow that sticks for at least 2 days, anything else just makes me mourn for what could have been, I so hate that 'drip drip' :-(

Snow can take longer to thaw if the ground temperature is still cold...regardless of air temperature (within reason of course...13C airmasses would of course wipe it out pretty quick!).

If there is snow lying tomorrow...providing temps don't get much higher than predicted...there should still be a cover by nightfall. Of course if there is only a thin layer than the sun will get to work on it quickly anyway.

Met Office probability for snow here never gets above 50% over the next few days for when it does appear in the forecast. A good enough reason to stay calm and take each day at a time. I suppose we'll find out soon enough!

Hey everybody!!! :-D

Heres hoping for some snow!! I'm in Nottingham (south of Nottingham in Long Eaton) and see that the majority in here are West Mids!! I do hope some snow gets to me, I've been watching the ever changing charts!! But I see that there is lots of wowing at MetO forecasts so I suppose I'd better pop over there and have a look too!!

Oh, and I shall be on wine tonight :-D

Staffs expected by bbc/meto between 2-6 cms snow! cannot imagine that, that would be great (low levels) tomorrow am, 10-15cms high levels

I know where I am is only 47m asl but every time snow is showing on the meto forecast it either ends up being cold rain or snow clouds miss Wellesbourne by a mile or two......

Thanks S....been in the MOD thread and strat thread mostly (most of the time no clue about what they're going on about!!). At least we have a fairly accurate weather station page on Wellesbourne airfield to check the actual temps. Most of the time it's 2 or 3 deg c above what the forecast says.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
