The snow has certainly come down here in the past few hours, hard to see the depth but everywhere looks under a decent thick blanket.

Boxing Day and today, two lows taking completely different tracks, and the same places get all the fun? With it all moving SW-NE Id have expected Notts, S Yorks to be under the mild muck hours ago but no, thats reserved for the West Mids and Wales. And the NW, even though thats north of the low.

And it all started off so promisingly. Of all the snow setups this winter, the one that delivered best was the one the forecasts had missing us....

All fizzling out now. We have had some bad luck here in the West Mids this winter. It seems to make it worse that we get teased with a good start to each event only for it to go wrong very quickly.

Hope they're enjoying our snow again up north!

Indeed. Anything predictions that have been computer generated have performed appallingly. However, the actual forecasters have been calling this brilliantly for a few days now. The only human mistake I noticed was that initial weather warning yesterday, and that was quickly downgraded.

There's a part of me thinking that it might be fun to go old school for the rest of winter. Delete my weather apps, leave the forums, unfollow forecasters on Twitter and get my only information from forecasts I see and hear on TV and radio. Just like I used to in the 80s and 90s.

Rubbish, the slight dusting we did have has vanished and dodged everything overnight anyway, back to 1.3c now but nothing decent about shocker.

This has got to be one of the worst winters for a while here for snow, 0 days of lying snow yesterday it snowed for about an hour or so it was gone by the time I went to bed at 10! Boxing day was the same. Oh well there is always the summer and some sunny warmer weather....... oops I mean 10 hours of grey cloud that's hangs around until 6pm lol!

As usual, Snow-Shield FIRMLY in place over Kidderminster. Like most, we had what looked like great potential at around 5pm last night. Cold, big flakes. Thsi then chnaged in a short time to very fine snow, and then through the nioght I couild hear the rain clattering on the conservatory roof. Thank god i have the Alps to look forward to in 11 days time!

Ian F said they're not switching it on until September. Just good old fashioned wise heads there probably.

You too didn't feel the love for this snow WIB. Good call. Where in North norfolk are you?

Very light covering here, but nothing like they were initially forecasting. Real let down this one! Can't imagine it will stay around for long or that we'll see any more as it doesn't feel that cold. Ce La Vie...
