I had a light covering in Tipton and now it's all gone .

Gutted. Its pathetic here. Snow melted and wet.

What the hell is going on?

Gutted.

I feel your pain, not a million miles away in N Worcs we have exactly the same. Steady drizzle, almost no hint of the earlier snow remaining. Mind you, the rain is so light now that even if it was snow, it would be barely worth the effort. Hopefully those further N/E will have a better time.

Same here Snow Angel,

The snow eased off about 25 minutes ago, but as of 5mins ago was re-starting.

The snowapp above is incorrect - it is still snow over and to the north, east and west  of B'ham.

The low is(was) over Pembrokeshhire  30 mins ago according to the radar, but it is moving only slowly eastweards.

It may therefore send the milder air a bit further north.

However if it slides south east we will be in a prime spot.

To support the latter, I have just noticed the wind has picked up from the ESE. It seems to be backing which indicates the low is about to  move to the south.

Definately nowcast and lamppost watching here.

Absolute rubbish yet again, although even worse than boxing day when at least we had an hour of heavy snow before it turned to rain. These marginal events are way to frequent and quite definitely pants. I give up in this country. Winter=no snow.

Nothing here yet in Mountsorrel, just north of Leicester.  Not holding too much hope though to be honest

Just a tiny bit of sleet here in Thurmaston

That precipitation on north west wales is suddenly intensifying and you can see the pivot and actually think that's what we should be watching! But hey what do I know

yes it is, hope that while wont be long, dry here now, in mild sector

Dry here too and temp has increased from 0.2 up to 1.7C in past hour. Maybe in the warm sector which will hopefully push off sooner rather than later. Defo concerned about lack of any precip.

Really disappointed so far. Last Tuesdays event gave a better cover and even that didn't last long. Hope things improve later in the night. If not then theres always February and if were really lucky a March like 2013. Not getting my hopes up though.

But it wasn't supposed to start until around 11pm onwards. This is the first part, the rest will happen later :-)

Rain/snow mix here, we seem to be right on the split between the colder and milder air.

Just replayed that rain over NW Wales on the radar, and it has not really moved from that spot all afternoon.

That area between Dublin and Bangor over the Irish Sea seems to be the pivot point for the low pressure weather system.

  • Chilly with an increasing risk of frost

Once Monday's band of rain fades, the next few days will be drier. However, it will feel cool, even cold, in the breeze or under gloomy skies, with an increasing risk of frost. Read the full update here

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming. Week Ahead: Cool but largely dry until later in the week, when low pressure returns

We keep a chilly northerly flow going through much of the coming week, especially noticeable in the east. Cloud and rain spreading south Monday, but after that, most places largely dry until later in the week, when it looks to turn more showery. Read the full update here
