Gorgeous sunny morning after frosty start, low was -0.6c, grey this afternoon and breeze picking up now.

Mild air not arrived yet, max of 4.5c and currently 3.9c.

Definitely much more exciting charts than the last time I looked, plenty of potential early next week, just gotta hope we don't end up with fronts stalling west of Ireland in the end and bland toppling high pressure.

The charts next week look sensational. If they verify we are going to get buried as early as next Tuesday.

could have 14th Jan '13 written all over it! 2 slider lows on GFS are too far east for snow at our locations, long way off, but we need whole setup including Azores high further west

There is surely now way we are going to get that much snow are we?

When I posted my blog above I had not seen the latest from the MO thread.

Having now seen it, it seemed like quite a prophetic post!!! :cc_confused:  :cc_confused:  :nonono:  :yahoo:  :yahoo:

PS Perhaps with a physche like that  the Met Office will come calling.

Come on ILTS,

The MOD thread is alive with talk of the snow all over the country (SW?)  from this.

Join in the fun for once. Be positive. Believe its going to happen,  even for your location IF the charts do not change.

It needs only a shift of about 25miles to the west to be perfect, and all the experienced guys on MOD are saying that always happens with these types of situation.

If the charts change between now and then it may not, but currently bullseye for our region with 25cms forecast in a 12hour period alone on Tuesday Wednesday. Less snow is also forecast for Sunday and heavier snow on Monday.

These will be all snow events for our region.

Come on lampposts at the ready.

:hi:   :bomb:

Starting to get windy here. Temp currently 4.1C.

I like the sound of the 25cm snow on Tiesday/Wednesday MIA. That's what you call a proper snowfall.

The charts are pretty great. Not to be a party pooper but that is practically FI as far as making predicatable snow forecasts go. If it's still like that on Sunday i'll be getting more excited.

I'm REALLY hoping it comes off though :D

Wind averaging 25 mph but little rain yet (0.9 mm). Temp 8.4c, squall line over Ireland looks impressive.

ILTS

Yep I know that is 6 days away, but the slider low scenario is now shown on all models for early next week, agree possibly that GFS is the best case, but tonights ECM would probably bring 24 hrs of snow for us (more marginal though) at an earlier timescale and follow it up with bitter cold looking fairly locked in with a potent easterly with many snow showers until the following weekend.

MO are also on board with the slider low so....

Can't be bad if that ECM is a second best option!!

Yippee.... Finally a decent cold spell and even yourself could enjoy that?

:D  :pardon:  :yahoo:  :cold:

Wind really picking up here now, 40mph gusts and up to a balmy 7.4c.

Ahead of next week still worth keeping an eye on the weekend, fairly slack flow but possibly something through the Cheshire Gap?? upper's should be cold enough if there is.
