A bright frosty start current temperature -6.7C dead calm with a little fog.

Looks like another cold and bright day.

Coldest overnight temperature recorded for this year and pressure yesterday at 1042mb was the highest since 1045mb recorded on 23rd March 2011.

A rather underwhelming overnight low of just -1.4°C here, rubbish compared to some of the other lows recorded in the region last night. The temp seemed to zig-zag either side of 0°C all night.

It's been a strange feature of this winter so far, the reluctance of the temperature to drop significantly in seemingly ideal conditions.

-0.3C now, cloudy, expecting a thaw today, certainly full thaw tonight

A full thaw with temperatures getting down to freezing tonight? How does that work? Tomorrow you will though. Such a shame we're losing this frosty high just to allow the Atlantic back in...sadly in for a while too.

cloud needs to clear, or temp will steadily rise as wind increases, and the Atlantic closes in

Forecast doesn't suggest that happens until tomorrow morning. Though it could happen sooner. The frost is melting quite well this morning though.

Lovely shots there PM, thanks for posting. Was that filmed using a small remote flying machine?

Oddly, we have had a colder day than yesterday, maxing out at 2.9C. Temp currently a little below -2C. The ice on the pond looks about 2 inches thick - pond is quite big too, about 5m diameter.

An ominous looking cloud on the western horizon right now. I call that type of cloud a HOD - a harbinger of doom - as it generally signals bad weather (wet & windy). Yuk.

Temp falling rapidly now inspite of MO forcsat of not so cold),

Is now down to -2.2C with extensive ice and roads extremely bad after todays thaw of the frost.

With Tony H reporting -6 and -7's in central Wales we could be in for the coldest night.

Interesting that other posters are reporting how slippery it is - just popped out for a quick stroll & almost ended up on my backside three times inside the first two minutes. Mission aborted!

Currently 0.2°C

Most people off till next Monday. Great feeling and much to do with how Christmas and New Year fall this year. Nice to know most dont have to go back to work instantly on the 2nd. Inevitably some will but allows people to have some extra well deserved rest. :)
