We retain the cold uppers until Sunday with just a bit of a mild blip on Thursday where some milder air is temporarily thrown into the mix. It's a shame the cold pool to our North West isn't a little stronger, these uppers are just slightly too mild (-4/-5). If it were a month later in the season, I have a feeling this would be a very ideal setup for most of us.

Still! We have all week where the uppers are in the minus figures, so let's see what comes of it.

According to the newspaper, it says an arctic blast will see the mercury plunge as swathes of snow and sleet cover the North-West for most of the week. It is on the daily mirror.

It's going to be fun and games from Wed onwards this week, especially with the winds - Yellow warning update for Friday http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings/#?tab=warnings&map=Warnings&zoom=5&lon=-3.50&lat=55.50&fcTime=1418342400&regionName=nw

although they do stress it's a very dynamic situation and is likely to change - still a day off from surfing or hill walking in the North!

...back to the now, just a few sleety deposits here and there but showers should fade away overnight to leave it pretty icy at first before milder air  briefly intrudes from the west..

The weather is clearing up here now and next up is icy streches tonight, then from wednesday onwards it will be back to square one with wintry showers, hopefully it will snow properly by then perhaps through evaporative cooling!!

A prolong hail shower would be good too as long it will stick to ground.

The thunder hail was a surprise this morning, thunder was so loud I nearly fell of my chair. The showers seem to have died away now but it feels really cold in that wind

After watching the forecast and Meto warnings I must admit to being a bit underwhelmed with the lack of snow we ended up with.

The tops whitened over for a while after a brief heavy snow shower this morning but nothing settled at home, even with a healthy altitude.

Early days yet and hopefully plenty more chances to come over the next 3 months or so but I certainly expected more from thie last couple of days.

You look in prime position for back edge snow Friday morning

Yes an interesting few days weather coming up and hopefully we can all join in with shovelling snow by weekend.
