Had a number of heavy albeit short lived wet snow/hail showers brought on by gusty winds -however, nothing sustained as yet. It feels bitter out, and I suspect the fells are getting a good dosing of snow, but need the showers to be longer lasting for any settling.

A slacker set up later this evening and overnight bodes well for cover down to modest levels, but all dependent on the intensity and longevity of the showers.

Still the 10th Jan will go down as the first day this year with snow observed falling from the sky, last year we waited until the 31st Jan, and the winter as a whole delivered just 2 days of such an event - absolutely pathetic.

Temp hovering around 3-4 degree, dropping to 2 degrees in showers, more intense longer lasting ones would probably see it fall closer to 1 degree.

Guys check the satellite, there is a nice blob of cloud (should be organised showers) just starting to affect northern parts of Ireland. That should affect our region tonight :-)

Yup this showery activity transferring eastwards coming your way later on in a few hours time :good:

I see some showers getting going in the Irish Sea.. good for later on too 'warm' at the mo.

Yes Daniel, the temperature could have been better but as long as I see falling snow I will be relatively happy.

If you do not get any snow then something is wrong with the world! becoming much more prime for snow to fall in the evening/night. Radar watching for you folks. I'd be excited if I was in the NW...
