Light rain just started here. Temps dropping now as the surface flow turns more easterly

The band is already moving into west midlands and central southern England but it appears to be breaking before reaching northwest England. That's the drying effect of North Wales for us!

Our only hope is the more intense line of precipitation from east Ireland to northwest Wales which might just slide to the south of our region.

Overall, the band looks weaker than it did a few hours ago so not a good trend.

Looking out towards the river the skies are getting darker. Spots of rain on and off. Not as cold as yesterday.

Still grey n chilly here in Aintree. And dry :(

Update.

Now its raining :(

If it gets a bit heavier it will turn to wet snow. Look west for that heavier band.

GFS doesn't have the rain/snow transition until past 3pm which I suspect is when daylight temps begin to drop off after sunset, and the 50/50 odds become more favorable for snow.
