Nowt here, not seen a flake in so long. Most of the showers elsewhere will turn to rain as slightly warmer upper air pushes down.

Sleeting and hail here. :-)

Its a mixture of rain, sleet and hail here to be fair.

Few wet flakes fluttering down in the sleety mix - nice view looking south towards Manchester - sliver of light cast by the lowering sun between the storm clouds and the ground shows up the band of showers very dramatically.

Been to Buxton today and there was some quite beefy snow & hail showers rattling through, left a good covering on the tops here at 300m asl including some slight lying snow in the town center itself.

Just had a sleet shower (South Manchester) and looking at the radar the Cheshire gap showers are getting going so should be more showers coming through soon.

Not sure how long they will last but if they pep up and merge for a longer heavier burst I think I could see some snow falling.

Even Saturdays showers are rain/sleet now, I don't know why anyone even bothers with these NW winds, apart from 18th Dec 2010, they have all been rain / slush fests, I would always take an easterly all day, maximum risk for maximum reward.

Its back again. Big juicy flakes and starting to stick. If we can keep heavy preciop we could do well here.

Well it was quite mild this morning after rain all night, then we got a sudden hail downpour with a few wet flakes in it. We e just been out to an appointment at 1.15 and just as i got my disabled son outof the car and strapping him in, we got a right lashing of hailstones and some snow, my son thought it was hilarious! Im legging it down the street with him, finally get into the building and im picking hailstones off his legs and chucking them on the floor lol

Showed up as a decent snow shower over areas of the Peak District - locally here I just got grazed by it's northern edge and still had a brief hail showers....

Rain today demonstrates those how it turned from rain to sleet to snow once it reached higher levels;

raintoday1130.jpg raintoday1150.jpg raintoday1200.jpg raintoday1210.jpg

Dumped a grand 1-2cm here.... Huge flakes at first then powdery for fifteen minutes....

Since then weve had five snow showers....

Yeah the colder uppers are being mixed out now by milder air so any showers that fall from now on will be rainy, away from higher ground.

Drove from Bacup to Glasgow today and saw snow on the ground all the way except for the low bits it was great to see the hills covered, feels very cold but more drizzle than snow in the city centre

    Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

    The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
