lol yes, I was thinking of going to the beach as well tomorrow. I went there last year during that storm of the 5th December which coincided with a spring-tide, and the waves had topped the sea-wall and were over the dunes behind it. was amazing.

I wanted to go but I was in work.....................as per usual :nonono:

The tide does come in at Southport if it can over-top the sandbanks blocking it which it does on spring-tides occasionally. It's not the biggest!tide of the month tomorrow but!it is pretty high, and will be much higher with the wind of course so imagine the tide maybe all the way in. high tide their is at 13:00 :-)

I have only ever seen the 'tide in' at Southport once. Would you say the Southport coast is more exposed to the Irish sea than say Crosby, though they do get big waves at Crosby.

Yes, but look at the surface temperatures & DP's for that time frame. Not supportive of snow.

I would check this evenings ECM This potential event has up-graded

Well it was throwing it down earlier and mild? Blimey its almost balmy here now, you should see the car windows under the carport all steamed up from the warmth, not cold ! Never seen it like that before. Stopped raining now though.

I wouldn't say so, the beach is very flat at Southport for a long way out, even at the end of the pier the water is shallow even at the highest tides.

Crosby would be better I think, especially as it faces just south of West so directly into the wind And you have the added excitement of the waves and spray crashing off the seawall.

As I said I have seen the tide in at Southport once from the end of the pier, I could have paddled in it. Crosby is far better for big waves I usually go to the Coastguard end, have nearly been caught out a couple of times by the tide as it sneaks in behind you :shok: I do try to check before I go down there

Been out all day and haven't seen any forecasts other than the motorway signs giving strong wind warnings for tomorrow.

I assume that this event is still on then.
