There is a chance that the ppn will miss here.  The large area looks as if it will pass to the north.....

Look at that radar. It is pathetic. Can anyone give a sense of WHY the forecast heavy showers have simply failed to materialise? There is barely anything coming!

Because of the slackness of the flow

Problem is even if it hits you there doesn't look much behind it

Light snow now. intensity 2/10.  one of the best outbursts this winter.

I'm struggling to see how anyone can be positive even if they are getting snow when they look at that radar and compare it to the forecast.

Because of the slackness of the flow

Which wasn't correctly forecast? Was it not predicted by the models at all?

The observed wind direction and force has changed in the last hour at Boulmer, from NW force 2, to N force 4.  this has coincided with the disappearance of the showers.  Not sure why that is, but it wouldn't surprise me if they reappear through the night.

spooky.  It was bone dry 5 mins ago when I got in,nothing,  even after the hail shower at 6.30.  So had a little look on here and as if by magic, I saw some happy posts, then looked out of the window and it's snowing and getting all white.  yea it works...

Easing off a bit now but easily covering the ground including grass. Hopefully get some top ups over the night.

In fact just been out again and it's coming down heavy! Best so far this year for me I think

Is it still going up your end?

Because of the slackness of the flow

Nothing to do with the slackness of the flow, I suspect less instability, lower SST's and the fact the air is not especially cold(Remember the greater the sea temp and air temp are, the more convection you get aslong the instability/lapse rates are high enough) are factors why they don't seem to be many showers around.

That said, I did expected too see a bit more on the radar than we do at the moment, been the story of the cold spell, I've barely seen any big lumps of showers in NE Scotland in the last few days either, strange.

See what the radar looks like in a couple of hours but pressure is building all the time.

15 mins of medium snow have loved a covering.. just makes it all the more frustrating, since proper showers for a decent few hours would have left really good accumulations. Instead it's the usual whiteness with no depth whatsoever.

Wow what a surprise. I have been busy doing some diy tonight and suddenly wondered why the ground outside looked orange.

A nice covering indeed and Still snowing, medium sized flakes. Time for a tea break me thinks and no better way to wind down than staring at a snowy orange sky. BLISS

hmpf and as I went to watch it, the lamp post switched it off.  If that is what a yellow snow shower can do on the radar heading straight for us, well I am not impressed.

Some more showers heading our way from East of Scotland later in the night which will hopefully intensify if/when they reach us.

Unlike recently when we've had snow falling temp is sub zero and the heavy snow shower we've just had has left everything white, much more like it!

Did you miss the heavy snow we had on Friday night into Saturday Morning?  :cc_confused: It was quite a good hour of heavy snow(albeit it looked wet at times seeing as it did not look as much accumulated as it should) after a very slow start, shame after that, it was either sleet or rain which was melting the lying snow that did accumulate.

The bin men are finally coming to take my Xmas tree away tomorrow but it's frozen solid to the base in 6 inches of block ice and won't budge.

Think I might just have to keep it for next year as still nice and green and is now showing signs of new shoots on the branches. Either that or my sister's log burner will get some good out of it when it finally defrosts.
